You can hardly have missed the constant newspaper articles about healthy eating and making sure we eat natural and whole some foods. Well one of these superfoods is called quinoa. This has been around for thousands of years but only recently has it come to the attention of the western world. But do you know how to cook quinoa? You will be pleased to know that cooking quinoa is not that hard. You simply take 1 cup of quinoa and add 2 cups of cold water to it. You then bring it to the boil and simmer for 10 -15 minutes. The quinoa will absorb all the water and it is ready to serve or include in a quinoa recipe you have chosen. You can see that cooking quinoa is simplicity itself.

Once you have cooked your quinoa you need to find a good quinoa recipe to use it with. The most common types of recipes are savoury and include salads, stir fries and soups. But you can find the occasional sweet quinoa recipe or even some quinoa cookies. You will find that quinoa is as versatile as rice and can be included in your diet in many different ways.

I think that the best use for quinoa is in a quinoa stir fry. You can simply chop up a selection of vegetables of your choice and throw in the cooked quinoa with it. I fry it all in top quality Italian olive oil and only cook it fir 5 minutes maximum. I usually include some fresh basil and Tabasco and you have a fantastic quinoa stir fry to serve to your family.

You can see the possibilities for using quinoa in your cooking. It can be used instead of rice or cous cous. It can be added to all sorts of your favourite dishes as an accompaniment to meat or fish. Now you know how to cook quinoa you can start creating your own quinoa recipes.
